Following a hugely successful debut last season conducting Madama Butterfly, Xian Zhang returns to the Metropolitan Opera in New York to conduct David McVicar’s acclaimed production of Puccini’s Tosca. The first run starring Aleksandra Kurzak opens on 25 September, with subsequent performances on 28 September, 3, 11 October 2024. Zhang returns for a further run featuring Sondra Radvanovsky in the title role, with performances on 9, 12, 17, 23 January 2025. For more information and tickets, click here.
Following their collaboration at Tanglewood last year, Zhang returns to Boston Symphony for a subscription engagement next month. She also remains a popular guest of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Los Angeles Philharmonic, returning to both later this season. Having recently stepped in for their Brahms German Requiem concert at Carnegie Hall, Zhang appears with the Orchestra of St Luke’s again next summer at Caramoor.
Zhang is currently in her 9th season as Music Director of the New Jersey Symphony and has been appointed Music Director of the Seattle Symphony from 2025/26.
